Forward in Faith: 1953 - 1961
In February of 1953, 14 men gathered in the Christian Reformed Church in Smithers to listen to Rev. Van Laar explain the need for establishing a Christian school. A society was established and membership fees were set for $1 a year. By April 28, 1960 The Christian School Society of Smithers and Telkwa became a legal entity.
Beginning Years: 1961 - 1965
In September 1961, a four-room school was completed at the site of the the present elementary campus and given the name "Canadian Christian School of Smithers". School enrollment was about 85 students from grades 1 - 7 taught by a principal and two teachers.

Early Years: 1965 - 1978
Grade 10 was added in September of 1966, and a gymnasium with a stage and kitchen facilities was built in 1975 - 76.

Crisis Years: 1978 - 1986
A high school program was started at a new facility. On February 24, 1983 the high school facility was destroyed by an arsonist fire. By February 1985 a new facility, site of the present secondary campus on Fulton Ave., was ready for occupancy.

Rapid Growth Years: 1986 - 2002
Several additions (classrooms, library, learning assistance room and a music room) were added to the elementary campus. A 1.1 million dollar expansion of a middle school was started at the secondary campus and completed by February of 1998.

Renovations, Expansions and Challenges: 2002
In September 2002 the school had an enrollment of 480 students from over 17 churches . Three portables were added to the secondary campus. January 2003 major renovation began for phase 1 of the secondary expansion. The Expansion Committee is busy working on plans for phase 2 and 3 to add more permanent classrooms and upgrade the gymnasium facilities.

Consolidation and Renovation: 2006
The school enrollment has declined to 305 students by September 2006 due to a weak local economy, and smaller family sizes. The portables have been removed from the secondary campus and a new modern science room is constructed in the existing middle school wing. The Expansion Committee is no longer working on phase 1 and 2 to add more classrooms to the secondary campus. Plans are underway to to raise funds to install a new gym floor surface at the secondary campus.

A New Gym Floor 2007
A new gym floor was installed in the secondary campus gym. Four months after letters were sent to the alumni to raise $40,000 for a new gym floor the goal was achieved. A new floor by Sports Courts International was installed over the spring break with the help of staff, parents, and students. A new workshop/storage shed was completed at the secondary campus as well.
